About This Role

We are looking for an experienced Lead teacher to fill a Full-time year-round position for our 4-year-old Pre-K classroom!


We provide weekly paid time for lesson planning and a full-time Assistant teacher. Preferred schedule is 7:30am to 4:30pm, with some flexibility possible. What You'll Do

SKILLS:

Required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

Extensive knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood

Ability to develop rapport with children, parents, and co-workers.

Ability to develop a high-quality, age appropriate curriculum to successfully engage children and foster physical, emotional, cognitive and social development

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, all the responsibilities listed here plus the following:

a. Supervise upkeep of all educational equipment and materials in assigned room

b. Maintain progress records of each child's growth and development for parent conference on each child's adjustment, classroom behavior and developmental progress.

c. Work with parent to promote understanding of their child's growth and development; encourage parent participation in school programs; attend parent group and center functions.

d. Effectively train, supervise, and utilize classroom assistants and primary floaters.

e. Supervise ALL activities to ensure safety at all times.

f. Contribute to Staff-In-service Training by planning, leading, or assisting in a workshop presentation or by developing resources.

g. Abide and follow all NAC and Youngstar standards.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Lift up to 40 pounds
  2. Repetitive bending, stretching and stooping
  3. Have the mobility required to ensure the safety of the children.
  4. Work with children on the floor - get to their level
  5. Work outdoors in any variety of weather.
  6. Fully capable to have visual or hearing capabilities consistent with Child Care Licensing safety requirements
  7. Perform light duty cleaning
  8. Light typing and word processing


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Professionally prepared as a teacher of young children, especially in the field of early childhood education and/or Child development; meeting the requirements of DCF. Lead teachers must be a Level 12 on The Registry. A warm, sensitive, mature individual who relates well to children and adults.


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Documented 80 full or 120 half days of experience. 2 noncredit or credit department approved courses in Early Childhood. Level 12 certificate from The Registry. An associate degree or bachelor's degree in early childhood.
