In this role, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and integrated mental health care to a diverse patient population. You will work closely with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and primary care providers to deliver holistic, evidence-based, person-centered care in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations including mental status examinations, diagnostic interviews, and risk assessments.
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of psychiatric conditions including depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and psychotic disorders.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitoring for efficacy, tolerability, and safety.
- Provide psychoeducation to patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and medication management.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and PCPs to ensure coordinated care.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Conduct telepsychiatry appointments as needed in addition to in-person visits.
- Perform follow-up medication management visits and monitor patient progress toward treatment goals.
- Participate in crisis intervention and safety planning for high-risk patients.
- Engage in ongoing quality improvement, case conferences, and continuing education activities.
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) specialization.
- Current PMHNP-BC certification (American Nurses Credentialing Center).
- Active and unrestricted Michigan NP license (or eligibility to obtain).
- Valid DEA license for controlled substance prescribing.
- 1-3 years of psychiatric NP experience preferred; new graduates with clinical psychiatric placements are encouraged to apply.
- Experience with EHR systems; proficiency in clinical documentation.
- Strong diagnostic, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally competent, patient-centered care.
- Competitive salary: $110,000 - $150,000 per year based on experience.
