Stocks General Contractors is seeking a reliable and experienced Skilled Laborer to support our field operations on civil construction and underground utility projects.
This role is ideal for someone with hands-on construction experience who can work independently, support crews efficiently, and contribute to high-quality project execution. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and ready to take on more responsibility in the field.
What You’ll Do
%CF; Perform advanced labor tasks to support pipe crews and equipment operators
%CF; Assist with installation of underground utilities including water, sewer, and storm systems
%CF; Prepare trenches, grade areas, and support pipe placement
%CF; Use hand tools and small equipment for cutting, measuring, and assembling materials
%CF; Backfill and compact soil using proper methods and equipment
%CF; Read basic plans, grades, and site layouts as needed
%CF; Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site
%CF; Follow and enforce company safety standards
What We’re Looking For
%CF; 2+ years of construction or civil/utility experience
%CF; Strong understanding of job site operations and safety practices
%CF; Ability to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision
%CF; Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
%CF; Ability to communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors
Preferred
%CF; Experience in underground utilities or pipe installation
%CF; Familiarity with grades, elevations, and basic plan reading
%CF; Experience operating small equipment (jumping jack, plate compactor, etc.)
Certifications Required
%CF; OSHA 10 (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
Preferred:
%CF; Confined Space Training
%CF; Trenching & Excavation Awareness
Physical Requirements
%CF; Ability to lift and carry up to 80 lbs
%CF; Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical labor for 8–10 hours per day
%CF; Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Schedule & Pay
%CF; Full-Time | Hourly
%CF; Monday–Friday (8–10 hour shifts; occasional weekends or night work required)
