  • Staff Management: The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating nursing staff. This includes conducting performance appraisals and addressing any disciplinary actions when necessary

    Patient Care Oversight: The DON ensures that all residents receive appropriate medical care and that nursing practices meet established standards. This involves developing and implementing care plans and monitoring patient outcomes

  • Policy Development: The Director is tasked with creating and enforcing nursing policies and procedures that comply with federal, state, and local regulations. This includes ensuring that the facility is survey-ready and meets all compliance requirements

  • Operational Management: The DON oversees the daily operations of the nursing department, including budgeting, resource allocation, and inventory management. They are also involved in strategic planning and business development to ensure the facility's financial viability

  • Quality Improvement: The Director participates in quality improvement initiatives, ensuring that the nursing staff adheres to best practices and that patient care is continuously evaluated and improved
