OVERVIEWHendall is seeking an experienced Applications Programmer III specializing in Appian to design, develop, implement, administer, and maintain complex business process management applications supporting federal programs. This senior-level position will serve as both a lead Appian developer and Appian platform administrator, with responsibility for application development, integrations, platform configuration, performance, governance, and release management.The successful candidate will combine advanced hands-on Appian development experience with strong software engineering practices and the ability to translate business and technical requirements into scalable solutions. This individual will lead technical design activities, troubleshoot complex application and platform issues, establish development standards, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced developers.DUTIESDesign, develop, implement, and maintain complex Appian applications, including process models, interfaces, records, data types, expressions, integrations, and reusable componentsAdminister the Appian platform, including environment configuration, user and group management, security administration, performance monitoring, platform health, and version upgradesLead technical design sessions with business, technical, and government stakeholders to translate functional requirements into scalable Appian solutionsDesign, develop, and maintain integrations between Appian and external systems using REST and SOAP web services, Connected Systems, Integration objects, Appian Records, and relational databasesEstablish and maintain Appian development standards, reusable components, coding practices, design patterns, and governance processesConduct code reviews and provide technical direction, mentorship, and support to junior and mid-level Appian developersTroubleshoot and resolve complex application defects, integration failures, performance bottlenecks, and platform issuesSupport release management activities, including configuration management, environment promotion, deployment packages, production releases, validation, and rollback proceduresMonitor application and platform performance and recommend technical or configuration improvementsDevelop and maintain application design documentation, system configuration documentation, administrative procedures, deployment materials, and other required technical documentationCollaborate with Project Managers, product owners, government stakeholders, and development teams to plan Agile sprints, estimate level of effort, prioritize work, manage dependencies, and report progressSupport application modernization, platform enhancements, and continuous improvement activities as program requirements evolveWork independently and collaboratively to resolve technical issues, meet project deadlines, and support high-quality application deliveryMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, software engineering, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degreeAt least six (6) years of application development experience, including at least four (4) years of hands-on Appian development experienceCurrent Appian certification at any Appian certification tier or credential levelDemonstrated experience designing and developing complex Appian applications using process models, interfaces, expressions, data types, records, and related Appian componentsDemonstrated experience administering an Appian environment, including system configuration, user and group administration, security, platform health monitoring, and performance managementExperience developing integrations using REST and SOAP web services, SQL, Appian Integration objects, and Connected SystemsWorking knowledge of relational databases and SQL query developmentStrong understanding of software engineering principles, application architecture, systems integration, troubleshooting, configuration management, and release managementStrong analytical, problem-solving, planning, organizational, and written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated ability to work independently, make technical decisions, and manage competing prioritiesDemonstrated ability to lead technical activities, conduct code reviews, and mentor less experienced developersAbility to collaborate effectively with project teams, clients, and technical stakeholdersAbility to satisfy federal background investigation and badging requirementsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience supporting federal government clients or working within a federal contracting environmentExperience working within Agile or Scrum software development environmentsExperience with Appian Records, Sites, and Process Mining or Process HQExperience with relational database technologies such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or PostgreSQLExperience supporting Appian platform upgrades, environment migrations, production deployments, and release managementFamiliarity with DevSecOps, configuration management, version control, and automated software delivery practicesWorking knowledge of Zero Trust principles and federal cybersecurity and compliance frameworks, including FedRAMP and NIST SP 800-53Active or eligible for a public trust or security clearance, as required by the contractSalary: $140,000 - $170,000 per yearFor a complete listing of benefits, please visit our careers page at www.hendall.com/careersHendall Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
