About This Role

Assists the Teacher and Assistant Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. Supports the implementation of classroom activities, daily routines, and learning experiences that promote children's growth, development, and school readiness while maintaining compliance with Early Start CT requirements, NAEYC accreditation standards, Connecticut Office of Early Childhood (OEC) regulations, and agency policies.



What You'll Do

  • Assists the Teacher and Assistant Teacher in implementing developmentally appropriate classroom activities and daily routines that support children's learning and development.
  • Provides active supervision to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children at all times.
  • Supervises designated groups of children under the direction of the Teacher or Assistant Teacher.
  • Assists with classroom preparation, organization, and cleanup to maintain a safe, clean, and engaging learning environment.
  • Maintains classroom materials, supplies, and equipment and reports items in need of repair or replacement.
  • Assists with serving meals and snacks and supports children's self-help and independence during meal times in accordance with health and safety procedures.
  • Assists children with daily routines, including transitions, toileting, handwashing, dressing, and other self-care activities as needed.
  • Maintains required classroom records and documentation as assigned.
  • Observes and reports children's health, safety, behavioral, or developmental concerns to the Teacher or Assistant Teacher promptly.
  • Supports positive interactions with families and assists with family engagement activities as directed.
  • Participates in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities as required.
  • Maintains confidentiality of child, family, and program information in accordance with agency policies and applicable laws.
  • Complies with Early Start CT requirements, NAEYC accreditation standards, Connecticut Office of Early Childhood (OEC) regulations, agency policies, health and safety procedures, and mandated reporter responsibilities.
