About This Role

The Floating Teacher provides flexible classroom support throughout the center by moving between classrooms as needed. This position works closely with lead and assistant teachers to maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for children of all ages. The Floating Teacher may assist with daily routines, classroom activities, supervision, meals, diapering/toileting, transitions, and maintaining classroom cleanliness. The ideal candidate is dependable, adaptable, energetic, and comfortable working with different age groups and teaching teams.



What You'll Do

Float between classrooms and provide support based on the center's daily needs.

Assist Lead and Assistant Teachers with classroom activities, lessons, and daily routines.

Provide attentive and appropriate supervision of children at all times.

Help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.

Assist with diapering, toileting, handwashing, meals, snacks, nap time, and other daily care routines.

Support classroom transitions, playground activities, and movement between rooms.

Engage with children through play, conversation, reading, art, music, and other age-appropriate activities.

Follow all center policies, procedures, health and safety regulations, and licensing requirements.

Maintain positive communication and teamwork with teachers, administrators, children, and families.

Step into classrooms when staff members are absent or additional support is needed.



Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working with children in a childcare, preschool, educational, or similar setting preferred.
  • Must meet all state licensing requirements for the position.
  • Ability to work comfortably with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and/or school-age children.
  • Reliable, punctual, and willing to work in different classrooms throughout the day.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to remain flexible and positive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Patient, caring, energetic, and dependable.
  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude and follow all health, safety, and childcare regulations.
  • Must be able to pass required background checks and meet all employment requirements.
