Store Manager — High-Volume Gas Station & Convenience Store

Location: Auburn Hills MI

About the Opportunity

Our client, an experienced retail operator with a strong background in multi-unit retail management, recently acquired two high-volume gas stations featuring upscale convenience store operations. They are seeking a Store Manager to lead day-to-day operations at one location, with the potential for cross-training at a second nearby site.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $75,000, plus a bonus plan (est. $10,000–$25,000) tied to performance metrics
  • Potential health insurance stipend

About the Location

  • Annual volume of $7–8M ($3.5M in-store / $4M in fuel sales)
  • Situated near a major distribution/warehouse employer, driving steady waves of customer traffic before, during, and after shift changes
  • Full-service grill program offering a range of prepared food — a significant contributor to in-store sales
  • Robust beer, wine, and liquor offering
  • Staff of approximately 12–14 across front-of-house and kitchen operations
  • Strong base of regular, repeat customers

Schedule Expectations

Primarily morning to mid-afternoon shifts, Monday–Saturday, with occasional closing shifts as needed. Schedule can flex depending on staffing makeup.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all store operations, including staffing, scheduling, and day-to-day management of a team spanning both front-of-house and kitchen
  • Manage P&L performance, labor percentage, and overall profitability
  • Handle inventory management, ordering, and receiving across food, beverage, and general merchandise
  • Hire, train, and coach team members; lead by example on the floor
  • Maintain merchandising standards throughout the store
  • Build strong relationships with a loyal, regular customer base

Ideal Candidate

  • Background in retail management, gas station/convenience store operations, or similar; POS experience required
  • Personable, approachable, and dependable, with a hands-on leadership style
  • Strong track record in P&L management, labor cost control, and scheduling
  • Proven experience in inventory management, ordering/receiving, hiring/training/coaching, and merchandising
  • Kitchen or grill oversight experience is a plus, though not required
  • Exceptional people skills with a strong customer-service orientation
