Position: Bilingual Prevention Educator - FatherhoodFLSA status: Non-ExemptHours: Full time, M-FDepartment/Location: Fatherhood/Hauppauge PURPOSE:To assist men enrolled in the Long Island Fatherhood Initiative (LIFI) program in their efforts to become responsible, committed and nurturing fathers. The Prevention Educator will help dads strengthen their connection and involvement in the lives of their children by teaching curriculum-based workshop and activities addressing:Responsible parentingSustaining healthy marriage/relationshipsdomestic violence preventioneconomic stability SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:Promote responsible parenting among low-income, at-risk fathers by delivering/facilitating the 24/7 Dadâ„¢curriculum group workshops in-person and virtually including one-one make up sessions as neededPreventing family violence and child abuse/neglect by providing information on the impact of domestic violence and child abuse on families in-person and virtually.Enhancing the financial well-being of Probation/CPS/Family Court involved fathers using the 24/7 Dad Non- Custodial Dad "booster" on Money ManagementAssist with program enrollment/orientation activities including but not limited to conducting intake assessments, client participation letters, nFORM entrance and exit surveys and preparation of participant welcome kitsMaintain records of all client activities completed on nFORM and other required data collection platforms including individual client chartsDisburse incentives earned by completion of 24/7 Dad parenting workshop and other program milestones and supportParticipate in all professional development opportunities including but not limited to on-going training at conferences and webinars addressing Fatherhood, Healthy Relationships, Domestic Violence and Economic Stability Working as a part of a team to deliver a range of community outreach and engagement activities to promote services offered through the LIFI program to prospective partner organizations including but not limited to probation/parole,DrugandFamilyCourt,CPS,homelessshelters,transitionalandrecoveryhousingfacilitiesPrepare reports as requested and other project duties as assigned including hotline coverage ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPReports to the Senior Prevention Educator PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSBilingual (Spanish/English)Bachelor Degree preferred with a minimum of two years of experience in social services, group presentations or teaching.Excellent oral and written communicationLived experience with the family or criminal court system, whether personal or through a family member, is a plus and highly valuedWillingness to work as a supportive team memberWorking familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Docs and virtual platforms (zoom, google meet,etc).Fingerprint clearanceUnderstanding of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and/or stalking **Valid driver's license and a reliable transportation is a MUST**This position requires traveling to both Nassau & Suffolk Counties for program delivery and will require some evening and weekend hours.
