About This Role
We are seeking a highly qualified and passionate Teacher to join our early childhood program in Greenwich, CT. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of child development, excellent classroom management skills, and a genuine love for working with young children. This role is responsible for creating a nurturing, developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports each child\u2019s growth in social-emotional, cognitive, and physical domains.

What You'll Do
- Demonstrate the Children’s Day School mission, culture, goals, values, philosophies, policies, and development of an inclusive environment.
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children that will encourage their social, emotional, physical and intellectual development.
- Responsible for developing clear classroom goals and a quality program.
- Orient new team members to classroom routines, curriculum practices and parent/guardian communication.
- Design and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum according to guidelines established by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
- Responsible for developing and maintaining positive relationships with parents/guardians, children and coworkers.
- Organize and lead activities designed to promote child development while ensuring the safety and supervision of all children.
- Respond to parent / guardian comments and concerns, demonstrating sensitivity, interest and respect while maintaining confidentiality and escalating to the Director or Assistant Director as needed.
- Implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum (based on the Connecticut Preschool Framework) designed to respond to children’s individual developmental levels, physical and emotional needs and current interests.
- Provide a variety of developmentally appropriate materials and activities which foster social skills and encourage children to think, problem solve, question, and experiment.
- Observe and evaluate children’s performance, behavior, social development, and physical health. %CF; Maintain ongoing communication with parent/guardian regarding the development and specific activities of their children.
- Follow all safety and health rules, while encouraging children to utilize health, safety and nutritional practices.
- Supervise children at all times.
- Must be able to lift 40lbs.
- Maintain confidentiality about issues concerning other staff members, children, and families.
- Responsible for any other duties and tasks that may arise that are integral to maintaining the school’s operation.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of professional child care experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
- A strong understanding of child development.
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
- Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
- Associate's Degree in early childhood education or related field of study with a minimum of 30 Credits in ECE.
- Requirements include the ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl.
- A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
