Full Time | $120,000 - $140,000 (plus bonus) | On Site

We're seeking a finance leader who brings experience, sound judgment, and the ability to drive results independently. This role is ideal for someone who has successfully led the accounting and finance function within a construction, specialty trades, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or other project-based organization and understands the unique financial dynamics that come with managing projects, labor, job costs, cash flow, and growth.

This position will serve as a strategic partner to leadership by proactively identifying operational inefficiencies, recommending improvements, and implementing processes that enhance profitability, scalability, and decision-making across the business..

What You'll Be Responsible For

  • Own the finance and accounting function, developing the processes, reporting, and controls needed to support continued growth.
  • Leading monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Driving budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning initiatives.
  • Managing job costing, work-in-progress reporting, revenue recognition, and project profitability analysis.
  • Establishing and improving accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting structures.
  • Providing financial insight and recommendations that support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Partnering with department leaders to improve performance, profitability, and accountability.
  • Ensuring compliance with all financial, tax, and regulatory requirements.
  • Building scalable financial processes to support continued growth.
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing accounting team members.

Required Experience
  • Significant accounting and finance leadership experience.
  • Experience within a construction, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, facilities services, specialty contracting, or other project-based business environment.
  • Strong understanding of job costing, project accounting, WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion accounting, revenue recognition, and project profitability analysis.
  • Demonstrated success managing financial operations for a growing small-to-mid-sized organization.
  • Experience developing processes and improving financial visibility across the business.
  • Strong financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and cash management expertise.
  • Experience leading and developing accounting teams.

Requirements

  • 7–15+ years progressive accounting experience
  • Experience in construction or trade industries strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of job costing and margin analysis
  • Experience with multi-state operations
  • Proven experience managing payroll and sales tax compliance
  • Comfortable operating both strategically and transactionally
  • Direct, clear communicator
  • CPA preferred but not required
