Dietary Manager in Training (MIT)South Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center

South Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a motivated and dependable Dietary Manager in Training (MIT) to join our team. This position is designed to prepare the right candidate for a leadership role within our dietary department while ensuring residents receive high-quality meal service and exceptional customer care.

The ideal candidate will be hands-on, team-oriented, and eager to develop leadership skills in a healthcare foodservice environment.

Responsibilities
  • Learn and perform the duties of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher positions as needed

  • Operate and train staff on industrial kitchen equipment and foodservice procedures

  • Assist with meal preparation, tray service, sanitation, and kitchen clean-up

  • Utilize proper protective equipment and follow all safety and sanitation standards

  • Support dietary leadership with staffing, scheduling, inventory, ordering, and payroll functions

  • Learn federal, state, and facility dietary regulations and compliance requirements

  • Assist in supervising, coaching, and training dietary staff

  • Help maintain food quality standards, customer service expectations, and resident satisfaction

  • Participate in in-services, quality assurance initiatives, and department meetings

  • Maintain professionalism and foster a positive team environment

  • Work varying shifts as needed to support operations

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Associate degree or higher in Food Service Management, Hospitality, Nutrition, or related field preferred

  • Current ServSafe certification preferred or ability to obtain certification within required timeframe

  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification as required

  • Previous foodservice or healthcare dietary experience preferred

  • Leadership or supervisory experience is a plus

  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and nutrition principles

  • Basic computer skills and ability to complete reports and documentation

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

  • Must maintain a professional appearance and attitude

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to stand, bend, walk, and work for extended periods

  • Ability to work around food products, cleaning chemicals, and kitchen equipment
