Infant Teacher

A Step Ahead Daycare
Gretna, NE, US Full Time

Job Description

Job Description

Do you believe caring for a baby is about so much more than bottles, diapers, and naps?

So do we.

An infant's first year is filled with extraordinary development.

The first smile.

The first time they recognize a familiar voice.

Rolling over. Sitting up. Crawling. Babbling. First words. First steps.

And behind every milestone is a baby who needs to feel safe, loved, known, and encouraged enough to explore the world around them.

At Little Red School House, we believe Infant Teachers have one of the most important jobs in our entire organization.

And we're looking for an exceptional one.

More Than an Infant Teacher

We're looking for someone who understands that the little things aren't little.

Holding a baby while they take a bottle.

Getting down on the floor for tummy time.

Talking to an infant who can't talk back yet.

Celebrating when they finally reach that toy they've been trying to grab.

Comforting them when Mom or Dad walks out the door.

Learning the difference between their hungry cry, tired cry, frustrated cry, and I just need you cry.

Those moments matter.

Because before children can confidently explore their world, they first need to know they're safe in it.

That's what great Infant Teachers create.

This Might Be Your Place If...

You genuinely love caring for babies.

You believe every infant deserves individualized attention rather than simply being moved through a daily routine.

You're curious about child development and want to understand the milestones happening during a baby's first year.

You want to work somewhere that values relationships with parents just as much as relationships with children.

You want leaders who support you when things are difficult, recognize you when you're doing great work, and challenge you to continue becoming better.

You want professional development that goes beyond completing the minimum required training.

And you want to work alongside people who believe early childhood education is a profession worth taking seriously.

If that sounds like you, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do

As an Infant Teacher, you'll create a warm, nurturing, safe environment where each baby can develop at their own pace while building secure relationships with the adults caring for them.

You'll:

  • Build genuine, trusting relationships with every infant in your care.
  • Learn each baby's individual routines, personality, preferences, cues, and needs.
  • Provide responsive care throughout feeding, diapering, sleeping, play, and transitions.
  • Create developmentally appropriate experiences that encourage communication, movement, curiosity, problem-solving, and social-emotional growth.
  • Spend intentional time talking, singing, reading, playing, and interacting with babies throughout the day.
  • Observe developmental milestones and celebrate each child's progress.
  • Partner closely with parents, sharing meaningful information about their child's day, development, and accomplishments.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized classroom designed for infants to comfortably explore.
  • Support your fellow teachers and contribute to a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and mutual respect.

Most importantly, you'll help babies learn one of their earliest and most important lessons:

The adults in my world can be trusted to care for me.

We Develop the People Who Develop Our Children

At Little Red School House, our commitment to development doesn't stop with the children.

We invest in YOU, too.

We believe exceptional childcare starts with exceptional adults, which is why our professional development goes beyond required childcare training.

We intentionally invest in emotional intelligence, communication, self-awareness, leadership development, conflict resolution, coaching, and personal growth.

You'll have leaders who want to understand your strengths.

Leaders who will coach you through challenges.

Leaders who will give you meaningful feedback.

Leaders who recognize your contribution.

And leaders who are being coached and challenged to grow themselves.

Because we believe something deeply:

Better leaders create better teachers. Better teachers create better classrooms. And better classrooms give children the environment they need to thrive.

Your Growth Matters Here

Maybe your goal is to become an extraordinary Infant Teacher.

We'd love to help you do that.

Maybe someday you want to become a Lead Teacher, Assistant Director, Director, trainer, or organizational leader.

We'd love to help you do that, too.

Little Red School House has a history of developing and promoting leaders from within because your current position shouldn't determine the ceiling of your potential.

Your job can be where you work — or it can be where you grow.

We prefer the second.

Benefits That Support You

As a full-time member of the Little Red School House team, you'll receive:

  • Paid training and professional development designed to strengthen your skills as an early childhood educator.
  • Leadership and personal-development opportunities for team members who want to continue growing.
  • Flexible scheduling with an emphasis on creating a routine that works for you and our children.
  • Paid holidays.
  • Paid vacation, beginning with at least one week and growing to as much as four weeks with continued service.
  • Discounted childcare for your own little ones.
  • Recognition and rewards for the work you do and the difference you make.
  • Real opportunities for advancement within a growing organization that believes in developing and promoting from within.
  • And something that shouldn't be unusual in childcare: respect for the importance of your profession.

Who We're Looking For

We're not simply looking for someone who is "good with babies."

We're looking for someone who cares deeply about them.

Someone patient.

Someone dependable.

Someone nurturing.

Someone who notices the small things.

Someone who wants to learn.

Someone who welcomes feedback.

Someone parents can trust.

Someone coworkers can count on.

And someone who understands that while an infant may never remember their first teacher...

the safety, connection, encouragement, and care that teacher provides can help shape the person that child becomes.

Ready for Your Next Step?

If you're a committed early childhood professional looking for a place that will value what you bring and invest in who you're becoming, we'd love to meet you.

Come see what childcare can look like when an organization cares as much about developing its teachers as its teachers care about developing children.

Your next step might just be Little Red School House.
