As a Quality Inspector I, you ensure high‑precision components meet stringent aerospace requirements throughout production. You perform dimensional inspections, execute established measurement programs, verify critical tolerances, and document quality results that support engineering and manufacturing teams. Your work helps maintain compliance with industry standards, strengthens product reliability, and contributes directly to the delivery of mission‑critical systems.

Weekend shift option: Friday–Sunday, 5:30am- 6pm

Responsibilities

  • Operates Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) to perform dimensional inspections using established inspection programs and metrology software.
  • Sets up and operates inspection and measurement equipment to verify compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Performs AS9102 First Article, in‑process, incoming, and final inspections.
  • Interprets engineering drawings and applies Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
  • Executes CMM inspection programs and reports measurement results, including limited program edits or adjustments as required.
  • Verifies critical dimensions and tolerances for tight‑tolerance machined components.
  • Utilizes various metrology tools such as micrometers, bore gages, height gages, profilometers, and optical comparators.
  • Documents inspection results and enters data into the quality database.
  • Communicates inspection findings to machinists and production personnel to support compliance with technical requirements.
  • Identifies and documents nonconforming material and communicates quality issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Reviews production and inspection documentation for completeness prior to shipment.
  • Maintains inspection equipment and a clean, organized inspection area.
  • Develops familiarity with common specifications related to materials, coatings, nondestructive testing (NDT), and special processes.
  • Supports Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and company initiatives.
  • Escalates complex inspection or measurement issues to Quality Engineering or Quality Management.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) inspection programs.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Working knowledge of basic Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience using dimensional inspection equipment such as micrometers, calipers, bore gages, and height gages.
  • Ability to work with tight‑tolerance components and accurately document inspection results.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Pre‑employment drug test and background check required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical training or vocational education in manufacturing, machining, metrology, or quality.
  • 1–3 years of dimensional inspection experience in aerospace, defense, precision machining, or similar environments.
  • Experience operating CMM programs using PC‑DMIS, Calypso, or similar software.
  • Knowledge of standard inspection methods, sampling plans, and dimensional and visual inspection techniques.
  • Familiarity with AS9100D and AS9102 requirements.
  • Basic proficiency with enterprise resource planning (ERP) or quality systems such as Global Shop, Epicor, or 1Factory.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
