The Store Associate helps maintain proper inventory levels on the sales floor by processing donations (furniture, appliances most often) quickly and efficiently, ensure the safety and “shopability” of the main sales floor, and assist customers on sales floor

  • Operates cash register and credit card device for customers’ purchases accurately
  • Answer incoming phone calls, takes messages and direct calls to proper individual
  • Responsible for accurate money transactions. Accountable for missing cash or other financial assets. Closes out register and fills out forms accurately.
  • Ensures customer’s purchasing items with warranty and/or items being held for pick up are given accurate information and paperwork.
  • Clean, measure and repair items as needed
  • Price merchandise (Store Managers set prices)
  • Prepare and put items out onto sales floor when ready and space allows
  • Ensures items on sales floor are properly merchandised
  • Sort donations into proper categories for pricing and move onto sales floor
  • Maintain organized processing area and sales floor
  • Places “sold” forms on the proper items. May assist filling out paperwork.
  • Unloading donations (from the ReStore truck or from donor’s vehicles)
  • May assist with loading customer vehicles with purchase merchandise
  • Order, inventory, maintain paint sundry supplies and recycled paint products
  • Additional duties as assigned in case of employee absence such as donor scheduling or receiving.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Good people skills, ability to relate to and communicate well with customers
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment
  • Stand and walk for up to 5 hours (with periodic breaks)
  • Must be able to kneel and bend
  • Ability to lift up to 50
  • Knowledge of building materials or the willingness to learn
