About the Role
The Governance and Operations Manager supports the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education, (CAATE)'s governance and organizational operations by ensuring that board, committee, and operational processes are well organized, documented, and completed on schedule. Working with the Executive Director, this role maintains governance systems, supports recurring annual processes, coordinates operational follow-through, assists with budget development and monitoring, and supervises the Operations Coordinator. The position helps translate CAATE's priorities into clear workflows, reliable documentation, and timely execution.
This role is primarily remote. Employees who reside within 50 miles of Schaumburg, IL will work onsite up to one day per month. Fully remote employees will also be considered depending on location.
Role Responsibilities
- In partnership with the Executive Director (ED), support administration of the Board of Commissioners, the Executive Committee, and the Finance/Governance Committee.
- Serve as staff liaison to committees, providing administrative support and contributing to strategic goals and projects.
- Maintain governance infrastructure, including the annual governance calendar, Board and committee workplans, Standard Operating Procedures documentation, action-item tracking, meeting preparation timelines, electronic vote logistics, and follow-up documentation.
- Maintain the Policies and Procedures manual, bylaws, and related governance documentation under ED's oversight.
- Own annual-cycle governance processes, including nominations and elections, calls for awards, calls for volunteers, Board onboarding logistics, and governance-related communications workflows.
- Organize budgeting and financial reporting processes including the development and presentation of key financial metrics.
- Under direction of the ED, translate strategic plans and priorities into operational plans with budgeted/allocated resources and monitor progress.
- Supervise the operations coordinator through leadership and oversight, ensuring accountability, clarity of responsibilities, and high-quality deliverables.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in operations, governance, association or nonprofit management, accreditation administration, or a related role.
- Previous supervisory experience required.
- Experience supporting and leading boards, committees, or other volunteer-led groups.
- Experience coordinating recurring governance or operational processes, such as nominations, elections, volunteer calls, awards, or annual calendar workflows.
- Experience supporting budget preparation, expense tracking, financial reporting, or vendor related administrative processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and Zoom required. Experience with survey and nominations and elections software is highly valued.
- Ability to travel out of state and overnight 1-3 times per year by all modes of transportation including car, plane, and train.
- Physical: This role is primarily desk-based and involves extended computer use, including typing, data review, and virtual communication. Occasional light lifting may be required. AMC provides reasonable accommodations to support employees in performing the essential functions of the role.

Compensation:
- $52-$60K annually. Within this range, individual pay is determined by relevant factors, including job-related skills, experience, market data, work location, and education or training.
Location:
- This is a hybrid role based in Schaumburg, IL. Employees within 50 miles are expected onsite approximately one day per month, with occasional additional visits as needed. Candidates residing more than 50 miles away may be considered for remote work, depending on business needs and location eligibility.
