About This Role

Almond Tree is a small, vibrant preschool located in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn. Our mission is to nurture young children and facilitate joyful learning in a safe, cheerful, responsive environment that supports their holistic development. Our bright spacious classroom accommodates a mixed-aged age group of 12 children, including 3K children.

What You'll Do

  • Bring warmth, joy, creativity and care to children’s daily learning experiences
  • Supervise and actively engage children
  • Support daily routines (arrival, circle time, small & large group activities, meals, diapering/toileting, rest, transitions, departure)
  • Lead and assist with age-appropriate activities, including:
  • Circle Time
  • Singing songs
  • Storytime and read-aloud
  • Arts and crafts
  • Sensory and play-based learning
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, co-workers
  • Plan and lead developmentally appropriate preacademic activities
  • Prepare materials and learning spaces
  • Observe and document children’s learning and behavior
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom
  • Communicate with families and participate in parent-teacher conferences
  • Assist with recordkeeping, compliance, and inspections
  • Work collaboratively with co-teachers to provide exceptional care and education


Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 years experience working with/taking care children 2 years to 5 years old
  • Successful completion of NYC Department of Health fingerprinting and background check
  • Complete 15-hour health and safety training before starting
  • Possess a valid Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before start date)
  • Ability to lift to 30lbs and actively participate in indoor and outdoor play
  • Ability to bend, kneel, couch, sit on the floor, stand and move throughout the day

Preferred Qualifications

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or a degree in Early Childhood Education (or currently pursuing one)
  • Experience in a daycare, preschool, or early childhood setting
