Industrial Equipment Fabrication Welder

Build, repair, and keep production moving

Express Employment Professionals is recruiting an experienced welder for a well-established chemical manufacturing facility in the St. Joseph, MO area. This is not an internal Express position.

A day in the role

You clock in on first shift, review work orders, and prioritize repairs that keep production running. You study a blueprint, choose the right process—MIG, TIG, or Stick—cut and fit material, and lay down clean, structurally sound welds. You confirm dimensions, grind for accuracy, and document the work so maintenance and production teams stay in sync. Between jobs, you tidy your station, service your torch and grinders, and follow plant safety procedures specific to a chemical manufacturing environment.

What you’ll take on

• Perform MIG, TIG, and Stick welding on industrial equipment and components
• Fabricate, modify, and repair metal parts to spec
• Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, measurements, and weld symbols
• Cut, fit, grind, and position materials prior to welding
• Inspect finished welds for strength, accuracy, and quality
• Support equipment repairs and preventive maintenance projects
• Identify worn or damaged parts and recommend corrective actions
• Maintain welding tools, equipment, and a clean, organized work area
• Follow plant safety procedures and chemical manufacturing requirements
• Document completed work and communicate equipment concerns

What you bring

• Industrial or manufacturing welding experience
• Proficiency with MIG, TIG, and/or Stick processes
• Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and weld symbols
• Hands-on use of grinders, cutting tools, torches, and measuring devices
• Strong fabrication, fitting, and mechanical problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to produce clean, consistent, structurally sound welds
• Safety-first mindset with keen attention to quality and detail
• Comfort working independently and alongside maintenance/production teams
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
• Physical ability to stand, bend, lift, and work around industrial equipment

Compensation and schedule

• Starting at $25 per hour
• Full-time, first shift
• Weekly pay
