\tClient, Cabin, Modifications, Maintenance is a One Client opportunity to engage across the business units and global design centers. BGS CMM - Systems Engineering is seeking a high performing Experienced Software Certification Engineer (Systems) – Commercial Modification based in Long Beach, CA to support the growing Commercial Modifications statement of work (SoW).
\tWithin this role you will contribute to the mission of certifying and delivering safe and reliable airborne software components, in collaboration with our suppliers and global Client sites. You will ensure our aircraft not only meets but exceeds the rigorous safety standards set forth by the US Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) and/or European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
\tPosition Responsibilities:
\tGenerate Software Components (PDIs), User Modifiable Software (UMS) and/or Field Loadable software in response to modifications requested at aircraft level in compliance with DO-178B/C
\tReview and approve suppliers' software lifecycle data (i.e. software architecture, software design document, software requirement document) throughout software lifecycle processes; from planning, requirements, development/implementation, verification and certification phases
\tOversee and verify the compliance preparation and submission of comprehensive technical documentation required for certification
\tWork collaboratively and transparently with regulatory representatives, Client EUMs suppliers and global Client sites to ensure all systems and software designs comply not only with stringent regulatory requirements and safety standards but also with Client's internal standards
\tMonitor project progress and performance, ensuring that engineering solutions are delivered on time and meet all safety and certification milestones
\tPerform and lead activities to develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
\tLead development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics
\tParticipate in industry working groups to develop industry guidance and standards as well as authoring internal design practice documentation and standards
Required Skills:
\tBachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
\t3+ years' experience in software development life cycles, configuration management and agile software engineering best practices*
\t3+ years' experience developing, documenting and maintaining architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
\t3+ years' experience leading software development projects
\tExperience using common software version control tools such as Git, or equivalent
\tExperience with Agile planning tool such as JIRA, GITLAB, or similar
\tDomain expertise in either Interior Cabins, Seats, In Flight Entertainment systems or Onboard Network Systems
\tExperience with Aviation Standards DO-178C and DO-254 – must have requirement

\tPreferred Qualifications:
\t5+ years of higher education and/or related work experience (Higher education includes college, university, technical school, licensing/certification programs, etc.)
\t5+ years of experience as, or working with Designated Engineering Representative (DER), or Technical Standard Order (TSO) Certification Specialist or EASA/FAA Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) or equivalent
\t5+ years of Experience across Software Lifecycle Data Items, and Software standards such DO-330 and DO-331
\tCurrent Designated Engineering Representative (DER) or Technical Standard Order (TSO) Certification Specialist or Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE)
\tExperience using common software version control tools such as Git, or equivalent
\tExperience with Agile planning tool such as JIRA, GITLAB, or similar
Education / Experience:
\tBachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with experience in an engineering classification.
