Nature & Scope:
Positional Overview
The Imagine Group is recruiting for a Sourcing Manager on behalf of our client, a leading private equity firm focused on partnering with founders, management teams, and family-owned businesses to drive growth, support succession planning, and create long-term value. The firm provides strategic capital and hands-on expertise to lower middle-market companies across value-added distribution, specialty services, and niche manufacturing industries.
In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and onboarding new factory partners internationally, while managing and strengthening relationships with BMI's existing manufacturing base. This is a hands-on, travel-intensive role: you will be on the ground in sourcing regions, walking factory floors, auditing production capabilities, negotiating terms, and ensuring every partner meets BMI's standards for quality, compliance, cost, and reliability.
Role & Responsibility:
Tasks That Will Lead to Your Success:
  • Travel to key manufacturing regions (primarily China and Southeast Asia) to identify and vet new factory partners for redemption toys and prizes.
  • Conduct on-site factory audits evaluating production capacity, quality systems, working conditions, and compliance with safety and labor standards.
  • Build a qualified pipeline of backup and alternative factories to diversify supply and reduce single-source risk.
  • Lead in-person and virtual negotiations on pricing, minimum order quantities, lead times, and payment terms.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for existing overseas factory partners, maintaining strong working relationships that support consistent quality and on-time delivery.
  • Monitor ongoing factory performance against BMI's quality, safety, and compliance standards; drive corrective action when needed.
  • Coordinate with factories on new product development, sampling, tooling, and production timelines.
  • Ensure all sourced factories meet applicable product safety regulations (e.g., CPSIA, ASTM) and BMI's social compliance requirements.
  • Partner with quality control teams to establish inspection protocols and resolve quality issues at the source.
  • Maintain accurate factory documentation, certifications, and audit records.
  • Work closely with the buying/product development team to align sourcing strategy with product roadmaps and seasonal launches.
  • Partner with operations and logistics on shipping, freight, and import/export considerations tied to new factory relationships.
  • Report on sourcing pipeline, factory performance, and cost trends to leadership.
Skills & Experience
Qualifications That Will Help You Thrive
  • 5+ years of experience in international sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, ideally in toys, hardgoods, or consumer products.
  • Demonstrated experience traveling internationally for factory sourcing, audits, or supplier development.
  • Working knowledge of overseas manufacturing processes, factory audit standards, and import/export fundamentals.
  • Strong negotiation skills and comfort working across cultural and language differences.
  • Valid passport and willingness/ability to travel internationally on a recurring basis, including multi-week trips.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Excel for tracking sourcing pipelines, costs, and factory data.
Preferred
  • Experience sourcing in the toy, amusement, redemption, or novelty products industry.
  • Mandarin language proficiency or prior experience managing China-based factory relationships.
  • Familiarity with product safety compliance standards (CPSIA, ASTM F963) for toys and prizes.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field.
