Part Time
We are currently seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Records Clerk to support our skilled nursing facility. This vital role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance of all resident health records, supporting both clinical operations and quality assurance efforts.
Key Responsibilities:Maintain and organize resident medical records following state and federal regulations
Regularly audit clinical documentation for accuracy, completion, and compliance
Manage the release of medical information in alignment with HIPAA and internal privacy policies
Assist with preparing documentation for audits, surveys, and inspections
Provide accurate diagnosis codes to the billing team to support timely reimbursement
Collaborate with the Infection Control Nurse to report communicable diseases to the appropriate health authorities
Support Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives through data tracking and reporting
Participate in facility committees and support regulatory visits and interviews
Testify in court proceedings when subpoenaed to verify record authenticity
High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum 2 years of experience in medical records, preferably in a long-term care or healthcare setting
Strong understanding of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, and documentation protocols
Familiarity with AHCA, CMS, and other applicable healthcare standards
ART (Accredited Records Technician) or RRA (Registered Records Administrator) certification preferred
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Ability to handle sensitive health information with professionalism and discretion
