At TSL Roots Early Learning Center we expect classroom assistants to exhibit the following traits:

What You'll Do
An assistant teachers at TSL Roots Early Learning Center:
- Assists the classroom teacher in supervising and managing the children under their care
- Interacts with, initiates, and encourages children in daily activities
- Helps manage children's behavior using a Christ-centered, positive, and consistent approach
- Follows a basic schedule providing for the spiritual, social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs of children
- Helps children grow and become independent
- Assists the teacher in other ways as needed
- Helps build and support a caring team
- Maintains medical logs accurately and makes appropriate use of incident reports
- Maintains a high level of cleanliness and sanitation in room
- Help ensure a smooth, daily transition from home to child care center.
- Follow all center policies and state regulations.
Requirements
To follow state licensing guidelines, we require that classroom assistants:
- Must be 18 years of age
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Undergo and pass a background check.
- Undergo and pass a pre-employment physical exam and tuberculosis (TB) skin test within 6 months prior to beginning employment
- Earn and biennially maintain their certification in CPR, AED, and first aid prior to or within 90 days after beginning employment
- Complete all state-required child care training prior to or within 90 days after beginning employment
