Controller – HealthcarePosition Summary

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead financial operations for a healthcare organization. This role will oversee accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, reimbursement, compliance, and financial analysis while partnering closely with executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, budgeting, and cost management.

  • Oversee annual budgets, including operating, capital, and salary expenses, and support departments with budget development.

  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, performance metrics, forecasts, and other information for senior leadership.

  • Oversee cost accounting and reimbursement activities, including Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payers.

  • Manage preparation of regulatory and institutional cost reports and ensure compliance with applicable financial requirements.

  • Supervise and develop finance and accounting staff, promoting efficiency, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, audit requirements, and applicable healthcare regulations.

  • Analyze revenue, expenses, profitability, and financial trends and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.

  • Improve financial processes, systems, reporting, and departmental performance.

  • Lead or support financial studies, special projects, and other initiatives as needed.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or MBA preferred.

  • 3–5+ years of healthcare/hospital finance experience, including supervisory or management experience.

  • Strong knowledge of healthcare accounting, budgeting, reimbursement, cost accounting, and financial reporting.

  • Experience with Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement and healthcare regulatory reporting.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling, reconciliations, pivot tables, and complex formulas.

  • Familiarity with financial, billing, and accounting systems.

  • Knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle, charge master, regulatory reporting, and debt management preferred.

  • Strong analytical, leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
