Location: Petaluma, CA
Schedule: Full time available
Office Hours: 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
Reports To: HR Analyst / Director of Operations
Hourly Pay Range: $25 - $28 (nonexempt)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented HR Coordinator to join our hospice care team in our Petaluma office. This part-time role provides vital administrative support to the Human Resources department and helps ensure smooth day-to-day operations, with a strong focus on compliance, recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations in a healthcare setting.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in entering the Human Resources field, especially within the meaningful and mission-driven environment of hospice care. You’ll gain hands-on experience in core HR functions while supporting a dedicated team that provides compassionate end-of-life care.
Key Responsibilities:
Support recruitment efforts by posting job openings, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks.
Assist with onboarding processes including background checks, credential verification, and new hire orientation.
Comfortable driving to our different office locations (Sacramento, Fairfield, Concord) for onboarding purposes when needed — please note, this travel will not be required every week.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records (digital and physical files) in compliance with HIPAA and healthcare regulations.
Process new hire paperwork, benefits enrollment forms, and termination documentation.
Track and maintain employee credentials, licenses, certifications, and required annual training.
Help administer employee benefit programs and respond to employee inquiries.
Assist with employee engagement efforts, including wellness and recognition programs.
Prepare reports related to staffing, turnover, training, and other HR metrics.
Provide administrative support to HR Analyst and assist with special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent experience. Preferred not required.
1-2 years of experience in an HR or administrative support role, preferably in healthcare or hospice.
Strong understanding of employment laws and healthcare regulations (HIPAA, OSHA).
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and HRIS systems (e.g., ADP, Paylocity, or similar).
Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance required.
Working Conditions:
Office-based position located in Petaluma, CA.
Part-time schedule: 2 to 3 days per week, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Full-time schedule: 5 days per week, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
May require occasional flexibility for hiring or training needs.
