Position Overview:
The AV Field Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful field execution of audio visual projects from project kickoff through installation, testing, commissioning, and closeout. This position serves as a key link between project management, engineering, field technicians, vendors, subcontractors, and customers to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and according to project specifications.
The ideal candidate combines strong project management skills with hands-on technical knowledge of commercial audio visual systems. This individual should be comfortable working in the field, reviewing technical documentation, coordinating installation activities, troubleshooting issues, and providing technical direction to field teams.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the field execution of commercial AV projects from mobilization through installation, testing, commissioning, and closeout.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, field technicians, warehouse, vendors, subcontractors, and customers to ensure successful project execution.
- Review AV drawings, equipment schedules, specifications, scope of work, and installation requirements prior to and throughout project execution.
- Provide technical guidance and direction to AV technicians and field personnel during installation and commissioning.
- Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, deliveries, and installation schedules to maintain project timelines.
- Monitor daily field progress and identify potential schedule, technical, material, or labor issues before they impact project completion.
- Conduct regular site visits to inspect installation quality, project progress, and compliance with project requirements.
- Troubleshoot technical issues involving AV equipment, signal flow, cabling, control systems, audio systems, video systems, conferencing systems, and related technologies.
- Coordinate system testing, programming, configuration, commissioning, and final system acceptance.
- Work with engineering and design teams to resolve drawing discrepancies, field conditions, RFIs, and technical changes.
- Coordinate with other trades and contractors to ensure AV systems are properly integrated into the overall project.
- Maintain accurate field documentation, including daily reports, project notes, punch lists, change documentation, and closeout materials.
- Track project milestones and provide regular updates regarding schedule, progress, manpower, materials, technical issues, and outstanding work.
- Identify and communicate potential project risks and recommend solutions to maintain project schedule, quality, and profitability.
- Support the resolution of customer concerns and serve as a professional technical representative in the field.
- Coordinate final punch-list completion and ensure all outstanding technical and installation issues are resolved prior to project turnover.
- Assist with client training, system demonstrations, documentation, and final project handoff.
- Maintain clear communication with internal and external stakeholders throughout all phases of the project.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support project and field operations
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in commercial audio visual installation, integration, field supervision, or AV project management.
- Strong technical knowledge of commercial AV systems and installation practices.
- Experience with audio systems, video displays, projectors, video distribution, DSPs, control systems, conferencing systems, and related AV technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret AV drawings, schematics, equipment schedules, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Experience with AV system testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and integration.
- Proven experience coordinating technicians, subcontractors, vendors, and other trades.
- Strong project management, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Experience working with CRM, ERP, project management, or field service systems; ConnectWise experience is a strong plus.
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with project teams and field personnel.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel to customer and project sites as required.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Salary: $90,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
Job Type: Full-time, In-Person
We are currently only considering candidates who already live within commuting distance of our job sites. This role is not open to relocation and relocation assistance is not provided.
