Job Description

We are searching for a Staff Accountant to be responsible for financial information and analysis, applying accounting principles to analyze data and prepare financial reports. The position performs moderately complex accounting work, including account analysis, daily/monthly/quarterly/annual reconciliations, and financial statement review, while partnering with internal and external auditors to ensure timely, efficient audits. The role requires sound judgment and discretion regarding accounting and departmental policy, along with the flexibility to work autonomously within established company procedures.


Responsibilities


  • Prepares and/or reviews external financial reports, including quarterly/annual regulatory reporting and annual audited financial statements.
  • Assists with cash reporting, including daily reconciliations, weekly cash flow reporting, and monthly cash flow reporting.
  • Responsible for revenue reporting, including weekly revenue exception review.
  • Prepares cash and audit schedules, and supports external and internal quarterly/annual audits from start to finish.
  • Works closely with external and internal auditors to ensure efficient, timely completion of audit procedures.
  • Assists Controller, Manager, or Senior Accountant in preparing the monthly reporting package for leadership/headquarters.
  • Prepares month-end journal entries and supports consolidated/branch-level financial reporting.
  • Owns fixed asset accounting, including system maintenance, tracking, depreciation entries, and reconciliations.
  • Compiles, maintains, and analyzes financial information to prepare general ledger entries and document business transactions.
  • Responsible for prepaid expense amortization and tracking.
  • Serves as a proactive accounting and finance business partner to all functional areas, responding to cross-departmental financial reporting questions.
  • Researches and resolves complex accounting issues; devises and recommends improvements to general accounting systems, reserves, and asset/expenditure treatment.
  • Maintains accounting statements and reports spanning payables, receivables, invoicing, purchasing, and cost centers.
  • Provides analysis on inventory accounts, including overhead calculations and over/under-utilization.
  • Assists with jurisdictional gaming licensing/renewal data preparation; supports special projects as assigned and escalates discrepancies or recommendations to management.


Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3–5 years of related accounting experience; gaming industry experience a major plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Nevada gaming license.
  • Strong accounting knowledge, including how transactions flow through and relate across financial statements.
  • Solid business acumen, including understanding of financial markets and organizational operations.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, grounded in sound judgment and reliable information.
