Position OverviewA growing, project-driven organization is seeking a Sr. Director of Operations to provide strategic and day-to-day leadership across operational delivery, project management, workforce planning, resource allocation, and service performance.This leader will be responsible for ensuring that operational commitments are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within established financial targets. The ideal candidate will balance people leadership, process improvement, financial performance, and customer expectations while building scalable systems that support continued growth.Key ResponsibilitiesOperational LeadershipProvide leadership and direction to teams responsible for project delivery, scheduling, resource planning, and operational execution.Establish clear accountability for scope, timelines, cost, quality, safety, and overall performance.Develop and standardize operating procedures that improve efficiency, consistency, visibility, and cross-functional coordination.Translate organizational priorities into actionable operating plans, staffing strategies, and measurable objectives.Identify operational risks, capacity limitations, performance gaps, and emerging business needs, and develop effective solutions.Ensure the organization has the systems, processes, and resources necessary to meet current and future business demands.Financial and Operational PerformanceOwn key operational and project-related financial measures, including profitability, productivity, resource utilization, and cost management.Monitor labor, resource, and operating costs against budgets, forecasts, and established performance targets.Identify and address factors contributing to cost overruns, inefficiencies, rework, missed commitments, or reduced profitability.Partner with senior leadership and Finance on budgeting, forecasting, capacity planning, and operational decision-making.Use financial and operational data to identify trends, evaluate performance, and guide improvement initiatives.Strengthen cost controls and operating disciplines while maintaining quality and customer service.Operational Execution and PerformanceDrive consistent, reliable, and timely delivery of projects and services while maintaining safety, quality, financial, and customer expectations.Balance workload, staffing, and capacity across teams and business priorities.Develop flexible resource strategies to address changing workloads, specialized needs, and periods of increased demand.Establish clear communication, accountability, and coordination throughout the full lifecycle of projects and service commitments.Resolve operational barriers that could affect timelines, quality, customer satisfaction, or financial performance.Implement practices that support growth without sacrificing execution, quality, or the customer experience.Process Improvement and ScalabilityEvaluate current operating practices and implement improvements that increase efficiency, consistency, scalability, and service quality.Establish performance standards, operating rhythms, and reporting practices that support timely decision-making.Reduce unnecessary complexity, duplication, rework, and process breakdowns.Champion the effective use of systems, technology, data, and automation to strengthen operational performance.Lead change initiatives and ensure new processes are clearly communicated, implemented, and sustained.People LeadershipLead, develop, and coach operational leaders and their teams.Build leadership capability, succession plans, and organizational depth.Establish clear performance expectations, measurable goals, and accountability systems.Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, safety, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.Ensure organizational structure, staffing levels, and team capabilities are aligned with current and future business needs.Support employee development, engagement, retention, and performance improvement.Customer and Cross-Functional PartnershipProvide leadership and problem-solving support for complex customer, operational, and project-related matters.Ensure operational performance supports the organization's customer service, quality, growth, and financial objectives.Partner effectively with Sales, Finance, Human Resources, and executive leadership to improve planning, communication, and business outcomes.Strengthen coordination across functions from initial planning and resource alignment through execution and completion.Promote clear communication regarding priorities, responsibilities, timelines, risks, and expected outcomes.Measures of SuccessSuccess in this role will be evaluated through a combination of financial, operational, customer, and operations leadership experience within a project-driven, service-oriented, construction, logistics, manufacturing, distribution, professional services, or comparable environment.Demonstrated success leading complex operational teams and multiple functional areas.Experience managing project delivery, workforce planning, resource allocation, service operations, or other deadline-driven business activities.Strong financial and analytical acumen, including budgeting, profitability management, forecasting, labor planning, and capacity modeling.Demonstrated ability to build, scale, and improve operational teams, systems, and processes.Experience establishing performance indicators and using data to drive accountability, decision-making, and continuous improvement.Strong people leadership skills, including experience developing managers and building high-performing teams.Executive presence, sound judgment, and the ability to influence effectively across functions and organizational levels.Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and change-leadership capabilities.Bachelor's degree in business, operations, engineering, supply chain, construction management, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.Ideal Leader ProfileThe successful candidate will be a hands-on, strategic operations leader who is comfortable moving
