What You'll Do
The Role:
The School Social Worker plays a vital role in supporting students and families throughout the educational process. Responsibilities include case management, participation in intake and assessment, IEP development, counseling, and effective communication between home, school, and the community. The role also involves providing resources to families, preparing written reports, overseeing social work students, and collaborating with a diverse team of professionals. This position requires moderate to strenuous activity, including lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, and stooping.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications:
Must have a Master’s Degree in Social Work; NJ Department of Education certification as a School Social Worker; previous experience working with individuals with multiple or physical disabilities is preferred; possess strong human relations and communication skills; be able to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, school staff, students, parents, and community members; must pass a criminal background check, meet Department of Education clearance requirements, and have a current negative Mantoux test.
