Job Description
The Chapel School (TCS) Substitute Teacher/Teacher Aide
Each substitute teacher/teacher aide at The Chapel School, in there the direct supervision of the Preschool Director of Principal, is responsible for following daily plans provided by the teacher, including academics, lunch/recess coverage and all other aspects of teacher. TCS Substitute Teacher/Teacher Aides are expected to maintain effective working relationships with VLC Pastors, TCS Administrators, other teachers, maintenance staff, support staff and all other member of the VLC/TCS Community. TCS Substitute Teachers are expected to maintain a safe, nurturing, Christ-centered environment for students at school, always maintaining alignment with out mission..."To Know, Live and Share the Love of Christ".
Qualifications
All TCS Substitute Teacher should have experience working with children.
All TCS Substitute Teacher Aides should preferably have college degrees, however a high school diploma accompanied by an interest to work with children and a willingness to align with the mission and philosophy of The Chapel School will suffice.
Responsibilities
It is understood that all TCS Substitute Teachers/Teacher Aides will:
- Be on campus at whatever time is determined by the administration;
- Follow daily instructional plans provided by the teacher;
- Establish a trusting relationship with students and colleagues;
- Recognize and reinforce the importance of good conduct and achievement by students;
- Following classroom rules for classroom management and discipline;
- Be fair and consistent in following through on classroom/school rules;
- Use balance of Law and Gospel in discipline, focusing on a cycle of forgiveness;
- Respond to the individual physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the children;
- Be flexible when unusual situations/need arise;
- Dress professionally by comfortably unless special circumstances arise (Field trips, etc.);
- Dismiss their classes on time and supervise dismissal according to school policy/procedures
