D&A Independent (1099) Collector/Administrative Support
Job Description
CMDT Houston is seeking a dependable, professional, and detail-oriented Drug & Alcohol Independent Collector / Administrative Support team member to support our daily office operations and drug and alcohol testing services.
This role combines specimen collection responsibilities with administrative and client support duties. The ideal candidate is comfortable working directly with donors and employers, maintaining confidential records, and ensuring every collection is completed accurately and in accordance with applicable procedures.
***Candidates selected will be required to complete a background check and written authorization will be requested before any background screening is conducted***
Key ResponsibilitiesDrug & Alcohol TestingPerform DOT and Non-DOT specimen collections, including drug screening services, breath alcohol testing, and observed collections when required.
Follow applicable DOT collection procedures and CMDT protocols.
Complete Chain of Custody Forms (CCFs) accurately.
Verify donor identification and collection documentation.
Maintain specimen integrity, security, and confidentiality.
Prepare specimens for laboratory shipment and coordinate courier pickups.
Assist with breath alcohol testing when properly trained/certified.
Support mobile, post-accident, reasonable-suspicion, random, pre-employment, and other testing services as needed.
Maintain a clean, professional, and properly stocked collection area.
Greet clients and donors and provide professional front-office service.
Answer incoming calls, emails, and general client inquiries.
Schedule appointments and coordinate collection requests.
Enter testing and client information accurately into company systems.
Maintain confidential electronic and physical records.
Assist with client account setup and documentation.
Monitor office and collection supplies and notify management when replenishment is needed.
Assist with filing, scanning, data entry, reporting, and general office organization.
Coordinate with collectors, laboratories, employers, and other service partners.
Support management with additional administrative duties as required.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Reliable and insured transportation, and valid driver's license, if performing mobile collections.
Computer, internet, cell phone, and equipment (Evidential Breath Testing Device) required, if performing mobile collections.
Flexible availability including but not limited to nights and weekends, if performing mobile collections.
Strong administrative, organizational, and customer-service skills.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow regulated procedures.
Comfortable handling confidential and sensitive information.
Basic proficiency with computers, email, Microsoft Office, and web-based systems.
Professional communication skills and appearance.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Previous healthcare, occupational testing, medical office, compliance, accounting (QBO), or administrative experience is preferred.
DOT Urine Specimen Collector qualification/training.
Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) certification.
Experience with DOT-regulated drug and alcohol testing.
Knowledge of 49 CFR Part 40 procedures
Training may be available for the right candidate.
