Job Summary
To be fully engaged in the following State Certified 3 Yr. 6000-hour hands-on training program. The training curriculum will be work-based and provides you with hands-on experience in a structured environment.
This program is approved by Mississippi Apprenticeship Program (MAP) which operates under the DOL . Online classes will be mandatory and will be carried out during normal business hours. Due to the significant investment by Tegra Medical and the selected individual, a letter of understanding will be drawn up and signed by both parties.
An Industrial Maintenance Technician Apprentice assists in the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of machinery and equipment in an industrial setting. They learn to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and other system failures, perform preventative maintenance, and install or replace components under the guidance of experienced technicians. This role involves hands-on training, learning to read technical manuals and schematics, and adhering to safety protocols.
Role and Responsibilities
- Installs, repairs, and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance.
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation.
- Dismantles machinery and removes/replaces defective parts.
- Determines changes in requirements of parts by inspecting and measuring various instruments.
- Maintains inventories of equipment, parts and supplies by checking stock and placing orders.
- Trains production workers on routine preventive maintenance.
- Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
- Prepares maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- They will learn to identify the root cause of equipment malfunctions using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
- The apprentice will need to communicate effectively with other technicians and potentially with production staff.
- Accuracy and attention to detail are crucial for performing maintenance and repairs correctly.
- The role requires the ability to use hand and power tools effectively.
Level of Skill, Education and Experience
- Experience in a small device manufacturing environment or a machining background is a plus.
- Follow written and verbal instructions and capable of meeting deadlines. Can be self-motivated.
- Good manual dexterity and ability to use measurement and inspection tools.
- Good work habits, strong workmanship and a positive attitude are required as well as an ability, desire, and flexibility to perform a variety of machining operations and other functions within manufacturing as needed.
Education Requirements
- H.S. Diploma or equivalent is preferred
- Graduate of a vocational school in manufacturing/machining or engineering discipline is a plus.
