We are growing rapidly and looking for high performers at every level to grow with us.POSITION SUMMARY:The Skate Guard will be responsible for ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all visitors at the ice rink and will play a crucial role in maintaining a fun and safe environment for guests of all ages and skill levels.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:Actively monitor the ice and remind skaters to follow all safety guidelines and rink rulesAddress any unsafe behavior by skatersAssist skaters including beginners requiring guidance or individuals who have fallen and need assistance getting upEducate skaters about rink rules and encourage compliance to maintain a safe environmentAssist skaters in the use of appropriate gear such as helmets and skatesRespond to and notify management of any incidents, accidents, injuries, and altercationsProvide basic first aid in case of minor injuriesAlert management and assist with emergency situations as neededAssist with special events, including set-up, monitoring, and clean-up as requiredProvide courteous and friendly service to all guests and staffBe knowledgeable about the facility, prices, services, promotions, and eventsKnow and enforce the facility's policies, procedures, and rulesAssist in maintaining the cleanliness of the ice and surrounding areaReport any maintenance issues to the management teamAssist other departments as necessaryComplete special projects, daily assignments, and other duties as directed by managementTHE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS:2-4 years of experience in the sports/recreation fieldStrong eye for detail and safety complianceExperience in coaching or mentoring athletes or childrenProven success in being a quality team memberExperience and success in customer service, leadership, and organizationAction-oriented personality with a 'get it done' attitude and proficiency for efficiencyMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:First-Aid CPR certificationCan work with a wide variety of age groupsExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to maintain focus in a high-volume, fast-paced environmentMust have excellent guest service skillsMust be detail-oriented and have outstanding organizational skillsAbility to multi-task and prioritizeAbility to remain calm and focused in difficult and stressful situationsMust be respectful and friendly to our athletes, guests, visitors, spectators, leaders, and fellow team membersMust work well with othersMust take personal initiative for the betterment of the team and facilityPrevious experience as a Skate Guard or in a similar role is preferredHave sports experience or an interest to learnMust be able to work irregular shifts to include nights, weekends, holidays based on facility schedulesWORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Must be able to lift 40 pounds waist highMay be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time, whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop, or bend into awkward positions while performing job functionsFacility has intermittent noiseMust be able to skate for extended periodsMust be able to walk intermittentlyMust be able to work in cold environments for prolonged periods of time
