Assistant PreK Teacher

Mt. Lakes Country Day School is seeking a caring and enthusiastic Full-Time Assistant Teacher to join our Prek classroom. You will be working alongside one other assistant to support a group of 24 children, aged 4-5 years old.

Schedule:

• Full-time hours: 9:00AM – 1:00 PM
• 5 days per week, based on availability

Our assistant teachers play a key role in creating a nurturing and engaging space for children to learn and grow. Responsibilities include participating in developmentally appropriate activities such as tabletop and floor play, reading, art projects, and more.

• Support a calm and nurturing environment as children transition from structured activities to the afternoon routine
• Engage children in quiet, developmentally appropriate activities, such as reading, puzzles, art, or imaginative play
• Assist with snack time, including setup, cleanup, and helping children with basic needs
• Supervise indoor and outdoor free play, ensuring safety and encouraging positive social interactions
• Clean and organize the classroom at the end of the day, including sanitizing toys and wiping down surfaces
• Support a smooth and safe dismissal process, ensuring each child is signed out with the correct authorized adult

You should have a genuine passion for working with young children. This full-time position is available 5 days per week, with hours from 9:00AM-5:00PM.

Prior experience working with young children is a plus

Mountain Lakes Country Day School provides quality care for infants, ages 6 weeks to 18 months; toddlers, ages 18 to 36 months; preschoolers, ages 3 to 4 years, and kindergartners, ages 4 to 6 years. Classrooms are broken down by age group and activities are planned for small groups on the principles of developmentally appropriate practices using The Creative Curriculum by Teaching Strategies.Our center is open all year with limited closings for holidays and staff training.
