Responsibilities
This position is responsible for working with junior and senior level actuaries in determining the applicable financial implications associated with employee benefit security programs such as pension plans and post-retirement healthcare plans.
- Perform Actuarial Valuations under required governmental regulations and applicable accounting standards for pension and post-retirement healthcare plans
- Monitor and prepare items related to annual compliance for qualified pension plans
- Preparation of pension plan benefits certifications
- Assist team in special consulting projects as needed
- Use of standard spreadsheet tools and development of non-standard spreadsheets for special projects
- Annual update of valuation system software and programming for new plans
- Draft correspondence for review by junior and senior level actuaries
- Respond to client inquiries and begin to develop client relationships
- Coordinate generation of actuarial reports and client presentations with Administrative staff
- Evaluating work products and exercise independent judgment to determine suitability for escalation
- Application of standards and procedures to the particular project
- Identify issues in need of refinement and offer solutions.
- As an integral member of the organization, this position is also responsible to provide assistance wherever necessary to help the department and the Company in achieving their goals.
- Maintain proficient knowledge of, and demonstrate ongoing compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to this position, ensure ongoing adherence to pertinent policies, procedures, and internal controls, and meet all training requirements in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree upon graduation from an accredited College or University with a major in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science or Economics.
- Must possess a Minimum GPA of 3.2 overall or 3.5 in Major.
- Must have completed at least one actuarial exam sponsored by the Society of Actuaries.
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills
- Ability to be highly organized and show an attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize work assignments and multitask
- Display a high level competency with Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as personal computer skills and other industry specific software
- Ability to analyze problems and put forth solutions
- Minimum six (6) months relevant work experience.
