Chesterton Manor is seeking an Activities Assistant to join our skilled nursing facility in Chesterton, IN.
The Activities Assistant conducts activities for residents under the direction of the Director of Activities and helps ensure residents’ emotional, recreational, and social needs are met on an individual basis.
ShiftPart-Time
Every other weekend and holidays required
Assist residents with normal activities of daily living such as writing letters, making phone calls, and registering to vote
Assist with record keeping of resident progress and activity attendance
Escort residents to activity programs and events
Assist with mail delivery, flower and plant care, pet/fish care, fundraising activities, newsletters, and facility announcements
Help plan and carry out activities that promote entertainment, exercise, relaxation, creativity, and social interaction
Provide residents with craft supplies, materials, and equipment
Supervise and assist residents during craft and recreational activities
Encourage residents to participate in activities that support emotional, psychological, social, and spiritual well-being
High school diploma or GED preferred
Previous long-term care or experience working with the elderly or disabled preferred
Must be available to work every other weekend and holidays
Must be 18 years of age or older to apply
