About This Role

Join our Family Day Home as a Substitute Infant and Toddler Teacher and play a vital role in nurturing young minds. We're seeking a compassionate professional to provide exceptional care in a home-based setting, with the option to transition to a center environment in approximately 70 days.


As a key member of our team, you'll create a safe, engaging, and stimulating environment for infants and toddlers, promoting their cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development. We're looking for someone who values responsive caregiving, adheres to safe sleep practices, and is dedicated to providing top-notch care and documentation.


This part-time role (approximately 10-20 hours per week to start) offers the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with families, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive positive growth in our young learners.

What You'll Do

Provide nurturing, developmentally appropriate care for infants and toddlers in a structured environment, adhering to safe sleep practices and health and safety standards.


Implement daily routines, including feeding, diapering, toileting readiness, and sleep schedules, while maintaining accurate and thorough documentation.


Plan and engage infants and toddlers in age-appropriate activities that foster cognitive, language, motor, and social-emotional growth, tailoring interactions to individual developmental stages.


Differentiate activities and interactions based on individual needs, using positive redirection and developmentally appropriate strategies to guide toddler behavior.


Maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating learning environment, adhering to all state regulations and program policies.


Communicate effectively with families, sharing daily routines, progress, and concerns in a professional and timely manner.


Support the transition from a home-based mixed-age setting to a center environment, demonstrating flexibility and professionalism throughout the process.


Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance classroom quality, staying up-to-date on best practices in early childhood education.



Requirements

Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and actively engage with children throughout the day


Reliable transportation and consistent punctuality


Current TB test (or ability to obtain prior to start date)


CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before beginning employment)


Minimum of 2 years of documented professional experience working with infants and/or toddlers


Strong understanding of safe sleep practices and infant/toddler health and safety standards


Experience in a licensed child care setting preferred


Ability to pass all required background checks in accordance with state child care regulations


Experience maintaining daily logs and required classroom documentation



Nice To Haves

Experience supporting center transitions or classroom setup


Ability to work independently in a mixed-age classroom setting


Knowledge of positive behavior guidance strategies


Experience mentoring assistants or classroom aides


Bilingual


Familiarity with early learning standards or curriculum planning


Experience in a licensed Family Day Home or center-based infant/toddler classroom


Experience working in a mixed-age setting


CDA (Child Development Associate) credential


Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (if degree is required but field is flexible, specify ECE preferred here)
