Job Description

Job Description
Direction Behavioral Health Associates

Nurse Practitioner

Company:

Direction Behavioral Health Associates are proud to provide exceptional behavioral health services and support to children, youth, teens, and their families at their Nashua, NH locations. More information about the practice can be found at www.directionbehavioralhealth.com.

Job Description:

Direction Behavioral Health Associates are seeking a thoughtful, warm, and clinically curious Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join their child and adolescent PHP/IOP team. This is a part-time, in-person role based in Nashua, NH, approximately 12-15 hours per week over three afternoons, with some flexibility in scheduling.

Responsibilities: The candidate will:

  • Provide brief weekly psychiatric check-ins and medication management for children and adolescents in PHP/IOP

  • Participate in psychiatric evaluations/intakes alongside the clinical team

  • Manage a modest caseload with substantial clinical support

  • Collaborate closely with therapists around diagnosis, medication, family dynamics, safety, and treatment planning

  • Participate in a structured onboarding and training process with the practice's child psychiatrist

  • Take on an evolving scope of responsibility over time, for the right person

  • Participate in on-call system (infrequent after-hours urgent patient calls, response entirely by phone)

Requirements

Requirements: The candidate must:

  • Be a PMHNP licensed or eligible for licensure in New Hampshire

  • Genuinely enjoy children and adolescents and connect naturally with them

  • Be warm, grounded, and approachable

  • Be thoughtful rather than reflexive about prescribing

  • Be curious and comfortable questioning conventional practice when appropriate

  • Be humble enough to learn and confident enough to contribute

  • Have strong clinical judgment

  • Be comfortable working collaboratively rather than practicing in isolation

Preferred Experience:

DBHA is particularly interested in early-career PMHNPs who want intensive mentorship and want to develop expertise in child and adolescent psychiatry. Experienced candidates strongly drawn to this collaborative, learning-oriented model are also welcome to apply.

What Makes This Role Different:

DBHA's psychiatric providers are part of the treatment team rather than separate medication consultants. The selected candidate will know the patients, communicate regularly with their therapists, see how they function in the program, and participate in treatment decisions as they evolve. The practice places substantial emphasis on teaching and professional development, including direct mentorship from a child psychiatrist with more than 20 years of experience, structured clinical training, case discussion, and progressive independence based on experience and demonstrated competency.
