Wilkes University invites applicants for an open SAT/ACT Mathematics high school teaching position in the Upward Bound Program. Upward Bound is a federally funded TRIO Program that provides support to high school students in career exploration, preparation for college, and ultimately, their higher education pursuits.The successful candidate is responsible for implementing the academic component of the program by assisting 11th-grade students in preparing for the Mathematics sections of the SAT and ACT. Instruction will include reviewing relevant test sections and Pre-ACT scores, reinforcing effective test-taking strategies, identifying areas for improvement, and teaching students how to effectively prepare and study for the SAT and ACT. The instructor will also provide supplemental mathematics instruction to strengthen students' confidence and skills as they prepare for these college entrance exams.A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, and/or a related field is preferred. Current knowledge and experience with both the SAT and ACT are required. Experience working with high school students or in a college-preparatory program is preferred.Please note that this is a part-time, temporary position for Fall 2026 with an hourly wage. Program dates run from September 24th through December 10th, with classes held Thursday evenings from 6:30 P.M. – 8:20 P.M.
