Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Crate Builder / Fabricator to join our team in Gastonia, NC. This position is responsible for constructing custom wood and metal crates used to safely package and transport products. The ideal candidate has experience with woodworking, fabrication, or assembly, can accurately read measurements and blueprints, and takes pride in producing high-quality work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Measure, cut, and assemble wood, metal, and other materials according to blueprints, specifications, and customer requirements
- Construct custom shipping crates and packaging solutions for a variety of products
- Operate hand and power tools safely, including nail guns, electric saws, drills, and measuring equipment
- Secure products inside crates using appropriate bracing, padding, and fastening methods to prevent damage during transportation
- Inspect materials and completed crates to ensure quality, structural integrity, and compliance with safety standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Assist with additional fabrication and warehouse duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in woodworking, fabrication, carpentry, assembly, or a related field
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform basic mathematical calculations
- Experience operating hand and power tools safely
- Ability to read blueprints, work orders, or technical drawings
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding work throughout the shift
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
- Reliable attendance and dependable work ethic
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building custom crates or industrial packaging
- Carpentry, cabinet making, or construction experience
- Forklift experience is a plus
- Manufacturing or warehouse experience
