Role: Artist-in-ResidenceReports to: Assistant Head of School for AcademicsDepartment: ArtJob Status: Part-timePosition Dates: January-March, 2027Job DescriptionBenchmark School is seeking a local artist to join the Art Department to work with middle school students for approximately 3 months. Our goal is to expose our middle school students to a working artist who will share their skill and expertise to create art with the students. ResponsibilitiesPlan middle school appropriate lessons that will scaffold the artistic process for students to have individual or collaborative work that is complete at the end of the residency.Collaborate with the current Art Teacher to support students' needs and abilities.Teach students about your making process, artistic habits, and skills.Create your own artwork or installation that can be displayed at the school.QualificationsDegree in fine arts.Experience in teaching your current art making process.Understanding of how to teach neurodivergent middle school students.AccommodationsStudio space available.Stipend available.We will cover the cost of supplies for an agreed upon amount to be determined by the school and the artist before the project begins.Application & Writing ResponsePlease apply via the link below, and provide the following: A current resume Three professional references including names, telephone numbers, and email addresses In addition to a standard cover letter, please respond to the following questions in no more than 500 words.
