About This Role

The Assistant Preschool Teacher supports the lead teacher in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young children. This position is responsible for helping with daily classroom activities, supervising children, supporting their social and emotional development, and assisting with age-appropriate learning experiences.

The ideal candidate is patient, dependable, caring, energetic, and passionate about working with young children. The assistant teacher should work well as part of a team and be willing to actively participate in classroom routines, activities, and children's daily care.



What You'll Do

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead teacher with daily classroom activities and lesson plans.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of all children.
  • Support children with learning, social, emotional, and developmental activities.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom.
  • Assist with meals, snacks, diapering, toileting, handwashing, and other daily routines as age-appropriate.
  • Engage children in age-appropriate educational activities, games, reading, music, and creative play.
  • Help with transitions, nap/rest time, outdoor play, and classroom routines.
  • Observe children's behavior and development and communicate concerns to the lead teacher.
  • Maintain positive communication with parents/guardians when directed by the lead teacher or administration.
  • Follow all BAMS policies, procedures, safety practices, and Georgia DECAL requirements.
  • Work cooperatively with the lead teacher and other staff.
  • Participate in required staff training and professional development.

Nice To Haves

Qualifications
  • Previous childcare or preschool experience preferred.
  • Must be dependable, responsible, and punctual.
  • Must have a genuine love for working with children.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to remain patient and calm in a busy classroom environment.
  • Ability to pass required background checks.
  • Must be willing to complete required childcare training.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain it.
