Positional Overview
The Imagine Group is recruiting for a Quality Laboratory Chemist 1 on behalf of our client, a leading life sciences and manufacturing organization specializing in the research, development, and production of high-quality nutritional supplements designed to support the health and well-being of people and pets. With a strong focus on science, innovation, quality, and advanced manufacturing, the organization has established a significant presence in Lancaster and continues to expand its operations and workforce.
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting a high-volume analytical chemistry laboratory responsible for product release/testing and other quality activities. The chemistry lab supports raw materials, finished products, stability samples, cleaning validations, litigation samples, new product launches, development/optimization methods and other technical testing.
Role & Responsibility:
Tasks That Will Lead to Your Success:
- The QLCI performs Release, Stability and Special Request testing of finished products and raw material samples following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and in-house test methods, and/or compendial methods.
- The QLCI is expected to be capable of independently executing in-house methods and procedures and perform them as written with little to no assistance.
- The QLCI must be flexible to changes with the testing schedule and adapt to laboratory improvements implemented by management and/or teammates.
- Assists with training of new laboratory personnel and document training in accordance with established laboratory SOPs and the company training program.
- Must have a Safety-First mindset and being aware of surroundings while working in the laboratory.
- Maintains a safe work environment and will ensure that all equipment used in the testing procedures is calibrated and properly maintained.
- Train on the operation of the following instrumentation but not limited to: Laboratory Balances, High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC), Automated Titrators, FTIR, UV/Vis Spectrophotometer, Polarimeter, Dissolution and Disintegration Instrumentation. The operation of additional instrumentation and the need to train on new laboratory test methods when required.
- Execute projects assigned by management within expected/established deadlines while managing time with testing responsibilities.
- Stay current on publications released by USP, FDA and other pertinent regulating bodies to ensure the Quality Laboratory complies in the areas of analytical applications, release specifications, and documentation practices. Ensure competency of ISO 17025 test methods are current.
- Assist in resolving laboratory Out-Of-Specification (OOS) results in accordance with laboratory investigation procedures if assigned.
- Perform other assigned duties as may be required in meeting company objectives.
Skills & Experience
Qualifications That Will Help You Thrive
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry required
- Hands-on HPLC experience
- GC and Empower experience
- Industry laboratory/QC experience strongly desired
- Pharmaceutical or nutraceutical/dietary supplement experience preferred
- Strong understanding of analytical chemistry — must be able to understand and troubleshoot the science behind a method, not simply follow an SOP
- Experience with sample preparation, analytical testing and laboratory documentation
- Ability to work effectively in a high-volume environment
- Strong communication, organization and troubleshooting skills
- Stable work history
- Must be comfortable working 2nd shift on an ongoing basis
- Communicate effectively with other departments within the organization and function within a team environment.
- Regular attendance is required.
- Attention to detail and some process analytical skills necessary.
- Regularly required to stand and bend

- Must be able to use hands and arms to lift and reach
- Ability to stand and walk for a minimum of 8 hours
