Our client seeks a hands-on Senior Software Engineer to modernize and maintain a mission-critical enterprise application in AWS GovCloud. The role focuses on practical engineering, reliability, and collaboration with architects and scrum teams to deliver scalable microservices and micro-frontend solutions.

Responsibilities:
- Design and implement microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and TypeScript supporting event-driven and RESTful patterns.
- Build solutions on AWS GovCloud services including ECS or EKS, Lambda, EventBridge, and RDS within microservices and micro-frontend architectures.
- Reduce technical debt through dependency and framework upgrades with strong test automation.
- Implement UI test automation and BDD practices to ensure quality.
- Collaborate with enterprise architects and scrum teams to translate architecture into scalable solutions.
- Apply reusable patterns and best practices for architectural consistency.
- Participate in architecture and code reviews and technical discussions aligned with enterprise standards.
- Document designs and decisions with clear technical writing.
- Troubleshoot production issues, optimize performance, and deliver robust features.
- Contribute to both new feature development and ongoing production support in Agile sprints.
- 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
- Advanced proficiency with Java and the Spring Boot ecosystem.
- Experience with AWS Cloud services such as ECS or EKS, Lambda, and RDS or Aurora, and IaC tools like CDK or CloudFormation.
- Experience with Angular. Familiarity with micro-frontend architecture using module federation is a plus.
- Background in microservices architecture and modernization patterns such as the strangler pattern.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Collaborative approach and effective problem solving in cross-functional teams.
- Comfort with AI-enabled tools and willingness to learn and apply emerging technologies. Experience with GitLab CI/CD and Copilot is beneficial.
- Preferred experience with FedRAMP High, FISMA, or similar compliance environments.
- Track record in reducing technical debt through refactoring and automation.
- Familiarity with CI/CD, artifact management, and security scanning.
- Familiarity with observability tools such as CloudWatch, Grafana, and OpenSearch.
Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate.
