Destination Experience Associate (Part-time)
Job Description
Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County (VAAAC) is a fast-paced, mission-driven destination marketing and management organization. The Part-time Destination Experience Associate serves as a front-line ambassador for the destination, providing exceptional visitor service, destination information, and operational support across VAAAC’s visitor facing locations.
This position may work at The Welcome Center by Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport, the Visitor Center at 26 West Street in Annapolis, and other off-site locations or events based on organizational needs. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Destination Experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Traveler and Engagement Experience
- Greet and assist travelers and visitors by providing knowledgeable, welcoming, and timely information about events, attractions, dining, accommodations, transportation, and other destination experiences.
- Provide directions, maps, travel guides, brochures, and other resources to assist visitors with navigating Anne Arundel County, and Maryland. Answer visitors' questions in person, by phone, and through email inquiries.
- Manage Welcome Center brochure inventory
Destination Displays and Visitor Engagement
- Help ensure visitor facing information, promotional materials, displays, and resources remain current accurate, organized and visually engaging.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of visitor information and promotional materials.
Event and Conference Support
- Support on-site destination activations for major conferences, meetings, conventions, and events throughout the region.
- Assist with preparing and distributing destination materials, visitor information, displays, and other resources for conference and event attendees.
Visitor Center and Operational Support
- At the BWI location you will adhere to all applicable airport security requirements and procedures and assist travelers with appropriate airport resources, including directing lost-and-found inquiries to the appropriate airport department.
- Respond to special guest requests, including accessibility and language assistance, with professionalism.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
- Airport-based, front-facing position requiring frequent interaction with the public.
- May involve standing for extended periods.
- Flexible scheduling required, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

While in training you will be required to work at the Annapolis location until the Welcome Center is open
Qualifications
- Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, or tourism strongly desired.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm in high-traffic situations.
- Knowledge of the local area (transportation options, hotels, dining, attractions) preferred.
- Proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.
- Must pass a TSA background check required by the airport
Compensation
- $25/hour
- 25-30 hours per week
