About This Role

CIFC's Danbury Early Learning Programs are seeking a skilled and caring Child Development Associate (CDA) Specialist in Danbury/Norwalk.


This role is responsible for supporting 1-2 classrooms in planning and implementing daily routines, curriculum, meals, and activities for preschool and/or infant/toddler children (ages 6 months-5 years). The successful candidate will work under the guidance of 1-2 assigned Lead Teachers and report to the Education Services Professional.


Key responsibilities include assisting with lesson planning, implementing classroom activities, and maintaining a safe and engaging learning environment for up to 20 children.

  • Classification: Standard / Full Time (1.0 FTE) or Part-Time (Hourly)
  • Schedule: 9:45 AM-5:45 PM or 2:45-5:45 PM (Monday - Friday)
  • Status: Non-Exempt
  • Directly Supervises: None


What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities:


  1. Collaborate with teachers to design and implement engaging lesson plans for individual students or small groups.
  2. Administer and record assessments to track student progress under the guidance of a licensed teacher.
  3. Develop strategies to support students with diverse needs, interests, and abilities.
  4. Assist with the setup and maintenance of classroom materials and equipment.
  5. Supervise students during non-instructional activities such as assemblies, field trips, and playground time.
  6. Support with daily routines like snack, lunch, and hygiene.
  7. Provide essential information and assistance to substitute teachers as needed.
  8. Participate in classroom activities like group reading and storytelling.
  9. Ensure student confidentiality and maintain a high level of professionalism.
  10. Complete assigned administrative tasks as required.
  11. Prioritize ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills.
  12. Perform other related duties as necessary.


Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years old.
  • Entry-level position; prior childcare experience is a plus.
  • Basic computer skills, including email, word processing, and internet navigation, are required.
  • Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Applicants with multiple language proficiency (English, Spanish, and/or Portuguese) are preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is mandatory (in progress or completed).
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) certification or a commitment to obtain within 1 year of employment (paid by the employer) is required.
  • Early Childhood Education Credits are preferred, as are Associate and/or Bachelor degrees.

Health Requirements:


  • Recent fit for duty Health examination is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds is essential.
