About This Role

The Assistant Teacher plays a vital role in creating a nurturing and secure environment for children, collaborating closely with Teachers and the Director. To thrive in this position, the candidate must be an effective communicator, active listener, and team player. By assisting Teachers in delivering a high-quality educational program and fostering positive relationships with children and their parents, the Assistant Teacher promotes children's development and well-being. This involves observing and documenting children's interests and progress, and sharing that information with parents and staff. Under the direction of the Teacher and the Director, the Assistant Teacher designs and implements engaging activities that cater to children's interests and needs.



What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with Teachers to develop and implement engaging curricula activities that encourage children's participation.
  • Lead activities with energy and enthusiasm, ensuring a clean, organized, and accessible classroom environment.
  • Maintain open communication channels with parents through regular informal discussions and progress reports.
  • Model good hygiene and self-help practices to promote healthy habits in children.
  • Facilitate a smooth transition for children from home to the child care center.
  • Adhere to all center policies and state regulations.
  • Develop a personal professional development plan to enhance continuous quality improvement.


Requirements

  • Preferences include holding a CDA, Associates, or Bachelors Degree, or a willingness to pursue these certifications & degrees in the future; assistance with obtaining these certifications & degrees is offered.
  • Frequent energy and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as basic computer/tablet proficiency.
  • A deep understanding of child development.
  • Proven leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Current Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification, with the option to obtain this certification through a course offered by us.
  • Clear full background check through the State of Connecticut.
  • Pass a health screening.
