Position Summary Moorings Park is seeking a dedicated and talented Director of Activities to join our team. The Director of Activities is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing a program of activities which challenges all levels of residents to remain as active mentally and physically as their condition warrants, subject to any written restrictions and limitations identified by the resident’s physician. This program meets/exceeds all applicable State and Federal guidelines and meets each residents’ individual needs, as well as, the needs of the residential community, in order for him/her to attain and maintain his/her highest level of functioning.
Key Contributions
- Completes required documentation in a timely manner.
- Develops and implements an activity program which meets the individual and community needs of the resident.
- Attends and participates in regularly scheduled meetings.
- Oversees and facilitates resident council meetings, including; creating the agenda, leading the meeting, distributing minutes, and ensuring follow-up as needed
- Responsible for the supervision of assigned activities staff, including hiring, training, and evaluating performance.
- Plans and submits for approval activity budget and adheres to this budget following approval.
- Creates and distributes monthly activity calendar.
- Creates and organizes monthly staff work schedule.
- Coordinates set up and preparations for special functions.
- Assists in recruiting, selecting, and training of competent personnel to ensure that department staffing is adequate.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language required.
- During emergencies or natural disasters, may be required to remain on duty for the duration of the event.
- Bachelor's degree, preferred
- Works in compliance with all HIPPA regulations and standards.
- Participates in facility and professionally sponsored educational programs, including continuing education programs to comply with mandatory in-service requirements dictated by State and Federal governments.
- Working knowledge of computer programs i.e., publisher, word, etc.
- Previous experience in activities in long-term care (Preferred)
- Adheres to a flexible on-call work schedule which involves evening, split shift or weekend or holiday coverage.
