St. James’s Children’s Center is an esteemed, 40-year-old early childhood education program dedicated to delivering inclusive, high-quality learning experiences for Richmond families. Based in Richmond’s Fan District near VCU, we are passionate about fostering growth in young minds.

• Establish and implement engaging, play-based curricula tailored to preschool-aged children’s unique needs.
• Support the emotional and social development of each child in a compassionate, respectful environment aligned with our mission.
• Create a stimulating, child-centered classroom environment that adapts to the diverse needs of each learner.
• Regularly observe, assess, and document children’s progress, sharing valuable insights with their families.
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall learning experience and promote cross-functional success.
• Forge strong, positive relationships with families and community partners through effective, professional communication.

• Valid Virginia Driver's License
• Willingness to drive a 14 passenger van/short bus
• Strong communication, patience, and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate practice.
• Experience working with young children in an early childhood setting.

• First aid/CPR certification.
• Experience with diverse learners.
• CDA, Associate’s, or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field.
