BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Work at the direction of and with the Archivist researching and reporting using a combination of the resources in Mohonk Mountain House’s archival collections, other historic resources, conducting interviews, and interpretation of material culture.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Employ academic and field research techniques to document assigned aspects of Mohonk Mountain House’s history from 1869 to present.
· Utilize written and digital communication skills to produce outreach materials that leverage Mohonk’s historic assets.
· Organize own work, prioritize duties, work unsupervised and as a member of a team.
· Work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
· Work methodically and accurately showing attention to detail.
· Answer phones and retrieve messages. Respond to research requests with appropriate information.
· Assist with special projects, clerical and administrative tasks.
· Work extended periods of time viewing a computer video monitor and/ or operating a keyboard.
· Perform basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.
· Demonstrate proficiency with Windows-based operating systems and use software including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook.
· Adhere to Mohonk Mountain House’s Dress and Grooming Standards; presenting a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance and maintaining a positive, professional image to our customers.
· Learn and successfully demonstrate the Mohonk Mountain House Service Steps with Service Strategies with guests and staff.
· Learn and retain knowledge of historical facts and information about Mohonk Mountain House.
· Inspect work by touch, sight, sound and smell for conformance to prescribed standards.
· Speak, read and write the English language and communicate in a clear and congenial manner, with our guests, visitors and employees. Hear verbal instructions, directions and warnings.
· Reach with hands and arms, bend, kneel, stoop, twist and flex arms, walk up and down stairs/inclines, stand, climb up/down ladders or sit for up to 5 hours at a time.
· Lift up to 20 pounds from ground level to waist and carry a distance of up to 25 feet with/ without assistance. Walk up to 2 miles per day.
· See close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
· Work in an environment that contains dust.
· Act calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Currently enrolled or recent graduate in academic program related to documentary history, research or reporting.
