The primary role of the Direct Support Professional (DSP) is to encourage personal growth in adults with developmental disabilities through goal-based support. DSPs also provide daily living support to KIM clients in their home and in the community. In this role, you will strive to motivate and encourage clients toward their goals, reflecting the Residential Service Guidelines.

Shift: TBD, Part-time and Full-time available

Salary

$17.50-$20.50 per hour, dependent on home site and client needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Help clients with useful emotional and behavioral regulation techniques as outlined in their individual plans.
  • Work with clients to achieve their personal and program goals and document goal completions and denials.
  • Assist with client money management such as petty cash, receipts, checkbook and EBT’s.
  • Administer correct medications to clients and document accordingly.
  • Transport clients to and from all activities and appointments and/or arrange transportation services as appropriate.
  • Complete all daily/weekly/monthly forms, reports, and data sheets.
  • Supervise clients’ daily activities and living conditions to ensure adequate health and safety.
  • Aid clients in their daily hygiene as outlined in individual care plans, including personal care such as brushing teeth, bathing, hair washing, toileting, and more.
  • Assist clients with cooking and eating daily meals, and grocery shopping.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

  • None required

Education and Experience

  • High school graduate or equivalent (required)
  • Intermediate experience with supporting living (preferred), preferably with individuals developmentally or otherwise disabled adults.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Criminal background check cleared before working alone unsupervised with the clients.
  • Valid driver’s license or State ID.
  • Ability to follow instructions, organize and set priorities.
  • Outstanding communication skills, including active listening, writing, speaking and reading comprehension.
  • Being able to engage in critical thinking.
